09.30.2010– For the past few years, Klean Kanteen®, maker of the first BPA-free metal bottle designed for personal hydration, has partnered with the Breast Cancer Fund to raise awareness for cancer prevention through sales of a special edition bottle. This year, $2 from the sale of every Prevention Purple Prayer Flag Kanteen will be donated to help support the mission of the Breast Cancer Fund.
This year’s new Prevention Purple was adopted to refocus the cancer discussion on prevention and empower both men and women to take easy steps to eliminate exposure.
It also features prayer flags to spotlight the Breast Cancer Fund’s, annual Climb Against the Odds, an expedition of Northern California’s 14,179-foot Mt. Shasta for a team 26 inspiring climbers whose lives have been touched by breast cancer. Hundreds of prayer flags are taken to the summit to represent those who have faced or are currently fighting the disease.
“This Prayer Flag Klean Kanteen is symbolic of our larger commitment to provide simple solutions that help people live healthier lives,” said Klean Kanteen Marketing Director Scott Rolfson. “The mission of the Breast Cancer Fund to expose and eliminate the environmental causes of cancer has been a guidepost and an inspiration to us since the very beginning.”
Klean Kanteen was originally founded as a result of early reports linking Bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical found in plastic bottles and the lining of aluminum cans, to cancer and other diseases. Klean Kanteens were designed to give people a safe, BPA-free alternative. Supporting the Breast Cancer Fund is one of many efforts the company makes to work toward a healthy, sustainable future for people and the planet.
“This prayer flag bottle is a beautiful expression of Klean Kanteen’s support for the work of the Breast Cancer Fund, and a wonderful way to honor those who have faced the disease,” said Jeanne Rizzo, President and CEO of the Breast Cancer Fund. “We are grateful for Klean Kanteen’s partnership and commitment to breast cancer prevention.”
