Deuter KangaKid

Yesterday the KangaKid showed up at Gearist HQ and we were so excited! Currently we have a child carrier pack (and a 7 month old to go along with this stuff) from Kelty, the FC 3.0. The FC 3.0 is built for longer treks and lots of space. See, Gearist HQ is in New York City where space and long, open treks are rare. If you’ve ever been in an NYC grocery store you’d know what I mean. The KangaKid is not much larger than a typical backpack but it comes with a great surprise inside. When you unzip a specific compartment on the pack, a full featured child carrier is revealed. Even with the carrier deployed, there is still plenty of storage and even optional sun and weather hoods. Easton Haven Carbon Mountain Bike Wheelset

Carbon has long been the domain of triathletes and roadies alike while the more rough and tumble riders have sat by and watched. Late last year, Easton introduced the Haven Carbon wheelset. Built by hand and employing the same stuff that’s used to make ultra-light body armor, Easton’s proprietary ABC (Armored Ballistic Composite) materials including HMPE (High Modulus Polyethylene), these wheels are seemingly bomb proof. However, should you find yourself actually being bombed and cracking one of these 1,450 gram per pair beauties, Easton includes a two-year, no-questions-asked insurance policy. [LINK]

Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7K

What actually put this camera on the radar is it’s GPS functionality. With no additional software, the DMC-ZS7 tracks your every move and shows it to you on a map. Now, whether it’s skiing, trekking, cycling, running, you name it, this camera does al the geotagging work for you. Also a big feature, it’s size, coming in at the size of a regular point and shoot, you’ve got plenty of room for other, bulkier gear. It’s image quality is not so shabby either. With 12.1 megapixels and a 12x optical zoom, you can get massive shots of all the places you’ve been. [LINK]
