Steamboat, Colo. — (Oct. 24, 2013) — Point6, makers of premium merino wool socks engineered to deliver the ultimate in performance and comfort, is proud to show its support for the Winter Wildlands Alliance Backcountry Film Festival. Point6 will provide its high performance merino wool socks as prizes for attendees at each of the Tour’s 100 screenings.
The festival was created in 2004 to highlight the efforts set forth by the Winter Wildlands Alliance to preserve and promote winter landscapes for human-powered users. The Backcountry Film Festival makes its world premiere on November 1st in Boise, Idaho and will then tour to more than 100 showings around the world. Funds raised remain in local communities to support like-minded, human-powered recreation efforts and to raise awareness of winter management issues, avalanche training/safety and winter education programs.
The films depict the soul and spirit of backcountry adventure, with submissions ranging from renowned filmmakers to weekend warriors who submit their best adventures for consideration. Skiers, snowboarders, snowshoers, mountaineers, and all others who pursue adventure will appreciate these amazing short films, all while supporting a great cause.
“Backcountry users demand a lot from their gear and that pushes us to create socks that help them do what they enjoy,” states Peter Duke, CEO for Point6. “We’re happy to be able to give back to the core sports that inspire our product development, and it’s great to get a bunch of people together and get excited for the upcoming season.”
Point6 will make appearances at several of the Colorado Tour stops, including Golden and Boulder in December to name a few. Point6 will sell discounted pro deals to attendees, and part of the proceeds will directly support the Alliance.
