Denver, CO – December 18th, 2013 – The holiday season – for most of us a time of joy and good cheer – can be a particularly difficult time for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Acquiring presents to give to their friends and family may seem like an impossible task. Out of this difficulty Herman Miller’s We Care celebration was born. We Care Denver unites the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, local sponsors like Chaos headwear at the Herman Miller Dealer Workplace Resource Colorado in hosted a holiday gathering for children in need.
First held in 1997 in Chicago, the event has grown to 27 cities across the U.S. and Canada – including Denver – and to date has helped more than 40,000 deserving children. Over 6,000 kids are expected to participate this year alone, including 400 in Denver. We Care provides children the unique opportunity to create presents with their own two hands and then pass them on as special gifts to their loved ones. The annual event includes entertainment, holiday snacks and a number of craft stations where children create the holiday gifts for their family and friends. Representatives from the design firms devise the distinctive craft ideas and are on hand at the event to assist the children.
Denver’s We Care event was held at the Boys & Girls Club Wilfley Branch located at 4595 Navajo Street, Denver last Friday December 12, 2013, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.Sponsors for the event include Margenau Associates, Patcraft, Maharam, Chaos, 3D Identity, Mikes2 Kitchen, Stir, Provident Construction Co., Source Four Interior Elements, Beauty Bar, Design Materials and Audrey Michel Photography.
