In this episode of Gearist Dailies (aka, Brandon’s TransRockies Run training diary for the time being), we once again head up to some higher elevations. This time the target was the South St. Vrain Trail near Brainard Lake above Ward, Colorado. The run began above 10,000 feet, dropped under 10K for a minute and then went up.

Having run another higher-altitude trail the day before this video was made, there was a noticeable difference in the speed of recovery between the two runs and then afterward. With all but ~3% or the Transrockies Run course being above 8,000 feet this is a bit concerning and clearly displays the need for a well thought out recovery plan in between stages and for the rest of the training cycle.

But that view though!

Brandon Wood

Born and raised in the great state of Virginia, Brandon is a former opera singer (true story) who’s had the outdoors flowing through his veins since day one. Brandon now lives in Colorado with his daughter Sydney (AKA, Baby Gearist).
