Go camping - FOR FREE

6.At Gearist, we love camping and we also love to camp in areas that aren’t really very formal campgrounds. With that in mind, one of the most amazing things about living in the United States (and we’re sure there are similar things in other places) is our ability to go camping on land controlled by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) or the National Forest Service which offers “dispersed camping”. The best part about dispersed camping? It’s free! That’s right! While you need to be aware of the regulations (Leave no trace, etc) in the area where you’re planning to go, these often remote camping areas come at no cost to you (apart from the taxes you pay which support this land – so be respectful)! Below we’ve placed links to information from the NFS and BLM. Get out there and get camping this summer and send us some pictures!
