Often times we find that it’s the smallest and most simple things that make the biggest difference. We all look for the simplest solution to the biggest problems. After all, isn’t that what Occam’s Razor tells us (summarized):

“the simplest explanation is more likely the correct one”

Ok, so maybe I was being a bit overly philosophical above, but it’s really what comes to mind with Coghlan’s tarp clips. These clips, made from a nylon resin, are so small and yet can make the biggest difference when they’re called upon. They are an easy to understand system that is purported to hold up to 240 pounds (more on this in a second). They’re lightweight and small enough to carry in any pocket.

I’ve included a video of a test below. I did my own test using what must have been a faulty tarp. Now, I weigh about 187 pounds so I am well within in the limits of these clips. Upon rigging the tarp in such a way that I could hang from it via the clips, I did just that. Long story short, the tarp tore and I fell (uninjured) but the clips held.

For the price ($3), there are few things that are as useful.
